Description
Our senses help us interact and respond to our surroundings. Over the years, our understanding how animals (and us!) see, hear, smell and taste has greatly improved. This year’s Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine was awarded to David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian for their work on touch and heat sensing in cells. From using capsaicin, a chemical in chilli pepper to study heat sensing, to poking cells under a microscope and measuring their electrical activity, their intricate experiments have shown how complex the sensory mechanisms are, and how much still remains to be known! Join us as we journey through their exciting research and discoveries.
