Description The motion of a particle has simple descriptions in inertial frames; the change of description when changing frames is the principle of relativity. Before solving more complex problems one must know how to describe the system efficiently: clearly the analysis of the motion of a running dog has is more complicated motion than of a thrown stick. In this lecture we discuss these issues and learn about holonomic and non-holonomic constraints, generalized coordinates and phase space, and the elements of the description of rigid bodies.
