Description |
Isolated charged particles are source of calibration for a variety of applications within CMS. They are used to set the energy scale of the hadron calorimeter. The mean response is used to determine jet energy scale of Jets+Track (JPT) or improved missing transverse energy measurement using tracks and jets (tcMET). They are also used in particle flow calibration as well as tuning of the Monte Carlo program. A comprehensive view of extracting single particle response from the collider data has been looked into taking care of triggers to be used, selection and corrections to be applied due to containment and contamination. The approach is being validated with the early collider data. |
