Description
The LHC machine can be considered as a photon collider to study exclusive physics processes. Photons from ultra-peripheral heavy ion collisions can produce a suite of very interesting final states of photon pair (light-by-light scattering), lepton pair etc. These processes also provide clean signatures to probe for physics beyond Standard Model. During the first part of the talk we shall discuss about exclusive dilepton production in lead-on-lead collision data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The second part of the talk will deal with the study of low pT photons in proton-on-proton collisions in the context of search for Bs --> μ +μ - γ process. We shall present highlights from our study of low pT photon reconstruction, and the on-going development of relevant trigger path for the CMS experiment to study the above process in the coming data taking period of the LHC.
