Description
PdAg(100) ordered surface alloys have been prepared by e-beam evaporation technique in situ in UHV and were investigated using high energy photoemission and normal incidence X-ray standing wave (NIXSW) techniques with wiggler radiation. 3d core level of Ag in these alloys exhibits anomalous disorder induced broadening which could not be explained with the existing theoretic or model calculations. The broadening increases with Pd concentration. On the other hand Pd 3d core level exhibits an asymmetry on the high binding energy side of the peak with no change in FWHM. I will discuss the possible reasons for the observed nomalous broadening in Ag 3d core level.
