Towards a cure for cancer : Are we there yet ?

Description
The talk shall feature some of the recent fundamental and translation work being carried out in our laboratory. We are exploring mechanisms that drive tumor progression, in particular the less explored role of the tumor stroma. Additionally, we are developing novel nanomedicines inspired by the increasing understanding of tumor progression,and also incorporating the strcture activity relationship of the active molecules. The talk shall also deal with case studies of basic research being stranslated to the clinics, the challenges and key 
issues that need to be considered. 

Bio of Speaker : Dr. Shiladitya Sengupta is the co-chair of the center for regenerative therapetics at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Principal Investigator at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Prior to that he was a fellow at MIT, and a Nehru Scholar at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. He trained as a pharmacologist from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He has been recognized as a Era of Hope Scholar by the US Deparment of Defense, as one of 
the Top 35 innovators of the world by Technology Review, and has co-founded three companies.
