A portable lab for Learning Science

by Dr. B.P.Ajith Kumar (IUAC, New Delhi)

Monday, December 5, 2011 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at Colaba Campus
Description
A low cost tool, called "expEYES", supporting a a large number science and engineering experiments ranging from higher secondary to post-graduate level will be demonstrated. It uses a computer for data control, data acquisition and analysis. "expEYES" (http://expeyes.in/) is from the PHOENIX project of Inter-University Accelerator Centre,New Delhi. It is a hardware & software framework for developing science experiments, demonstrations and projects and learn science and engineering by exploration. Capable of doing real time measurements and analysing the data in different ways. It is based on Free and Open Source software, mostly written in Python programming language. The hardware design is also open. A science laboratory at home becomes an affordable idea with "expEYES" and the design supports adding more experiments easily.
