Wednesday Colloquia

From antihydrogen production to dark matter searches, some experimental aspects

by Prof. Claude Amsler (Physik-Institut, University of Zürich, Switzerland)

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at Colaba Campus ( AG-66 )
Description
“We have recently developed tools and performed experiments to search for and to study unconventional states of matter such as antihydrogen, weak interacting massive particles and the electromagnetically bound system of a pion with a kaon, thereby spanning a broad range of energies between meV and TeV. I will report on the progresses and results obtained with the ATHENA, ArDM and DIRAC-II experiments at CERN, describing also some of the experimental challenges, in particular when detecting photons from scintillation or Cerenkov radiation”
