From J.C. Bose to S.N. Bose -- Progress of Science Research in India before Homi J. Bhabha

by Dr. Probir K. Bondyopadhyay (Rural World Communications, Houston, USA)

Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at Colaba Campus ( AG-66 )
Description
In this birth centenary year of Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, it is interesting
to look at the progress made in India on science and technology
research before this illustrious leader emerged on the scene at the dawn of India's independence. This historical presentation focuses on the contributions made by experimental physicist Sir Jagadish C. Bose, world pioneer of inter-disciplinary research and theoretical physicist Professor Satyendra Nath Bose in whose name the fundamental force particles are classified in modern physics. This progress, covering the time period November 1894 through October 1927, will be viewed through the eyes of two British Nobel Laureates : Sir William Ramsay and Professor P.A.M. Dirac.

Note: A Special issue of Physics News, commemorating Sir J.C. Bose's life and work will be released by Prof. M. Barma, Director, TIFR, and Prof. Bikash Sinha (former Director, SINP \& VECC), before the lecture.
Organised by Dr. Vikram Tripathi
