Description
Recent discovery of multiferroicity and p-type conductivity in delafossite compounds finds a potential application in transparent semiconductor devices. Delafossite compounds with general formulae A+B3+O2 (A=Cu, Ag, Pd, Pt; B= Fe, Cr, Al, Sc, Y etc.) exhibits hexagonal (2H polytype), or a rhombohedral structure (3R polytype). We have developed new synthesis methods (hydrothermal and monomode microwave heating) for ACrO2 (A= Cu, Ag) delafossite compounds and studied their structural and magnetic properties. Also, we investigated an effect of V3+ substitution at the Cr3+ sites on structural, magnetic and dielectric properties in CuCrO2, and reveal that V3+ substitution induces disordered magnetism (spin glass behavior) at the expense of ferroelectric nature.
