ILMs are self-localized excitations which can travel long distances in nonlinear lattice chains. This property of ILMs may be of relevant use in investigating the energy-transport mechanism in biopolymers e.g. proteins.
In this talk, I will discuss the static and dynamic properties of ILMs and a formalism that may serve as a minimal model to describe conformational flexibility in biopolymers and thereby, to understand complex phenomena occurring in them e.g. allosteric communication, protein misfolding etc.. |
