Description |
The second part of my talk will focus on advanced aspects of molecular self-assembly at the liquid-solid interface. Specific examples illustrating pre-programmed formation and manipulation of supramolecular networks will be presented. Following the introduction to the concept of two-dimensional (2D) chirality, strategies for the fabrication of homochiral surfaces with achiral building blocks will be discussed. Using basic principles of molecular self-assembly I will also illustrate how chiral surfaces could be employed for segregating enantiomers from a racemic mixture. Finally, the manipulation of supramolecular networks using external stimuli such as electric fields and shear-flow will be discussed.
