In this talk, we shall cover our recent results regarding the statistical fluctuations in random lasers. First, we shall discuss the reduction in frequency fluctuations in coherent random lasers by using a periodic-on-average random system. We achieve single-mode stable coherent random lasing using such a system. We find that this frequency control is mediated by frequency-dependent Anderson localization in the amplifying medium. Next, we address the intensity fluctuations in system. The synergy in disorder and amplification rules that the intensity statistics be Levy. One observes three distinct regimes of intensity statistics, a pre-threshold Gaussian, then Levy, followed by post-threshold Gaussian. We shall describe the various conditions of gain and disorder corresponding to the three regimes, and our theoretical model which captures the Gaussian-Levy-Gaussian transitions.
