Description
ESA's Gaia mission will survey the whole sky to 20th magnitude. In addition to the primary, astrometric catalogue,
the multi-epoch sampling allows detection of transient events,
particularly supernovae. A facility to detect these transits runs at IoA Cambridge and will issue alerts to the community with a latency of ~24 hours after detection by Gaia, allowing prompt follow-up observations from ground-based telescopes.
