ASET Colloquium

The Nature of Cancer

by Dr. Manu Kothari (Mumbai)

Friday, May 30, 2014 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at Colaba Campus ( AG-66 )
Description
Cancer is said to have countless causes - genetic, abnormal protein production, environmental, among others. Taken as a whole, about half of the people receiving treatment for invasive cancer die from cancer or its treatment. Survival rate is worse in the developing world. This in all likelihood is due to our misconception of what cancer is.

This talk will provide a gestalt understanding of cancer. The speaker will critically examine issues such as why cancer research has not yielded the expected results so far, why cancer need not be feared, how it can be lived with and how it must be treated or not treated. (May 31 is World No Tobacco Day).
