Description
Many practical applications, which use plasmonic structures, involve the interaction of multiple modes for optimized performance. Addition ally, assemblies of plasmonic nanoparticles possess exotic properties which strongly depend on the modes supported by the structure. Initially, an extension to the Green's tensor method for calculating the modes of a plasmonic nanocluster will be presented. The developed technique will be used in conjunction with surface integral method to understand the effect of mode symmetry on the generated second harmonic signals from such clusters. It will be shown that the symmetries of the modes play a strong role in determining the emitted second harmonic signal. Finally, the effect of coupling between the modes on the polarization conversion using plasmonic quadrumers will be demonstrated.
