Description
Nonlinear light transmission behaviour of ZnO nanostructures, using nanosecond or ultrafast (pico/femto) laser pulses as excitation is well reported and usually it exhibits nonlinearity related to two photon absorption (2PA) or three photon absorption (3PA) type process. With its wide band gap, ZnO exhibits nonlinear light transmission behaviour makes this material as a promising candidate for optical limiter applications.
To investigate the optical nonlinearity, open aperture z-scan measurements are done at 532 nm using 5 ns laser pulses. Optical and nonlinear optical limiting properties of ZnO: Alkaline earth metal and ZnO: Noble metal nanostructures will be disscused to understand the exciton and plasmon-exciton interactions on optical and nonlinear optical properties of ZnO, respectively.
