I will briefly review the physics of the CMB spectrum and its deviations from a blackbody spectrum. In particular the CMB spectrum may have a small chemical potential i.e. a Bose-Einstein spectrum instead of a Planck spectrum. A second type of deviation is known as the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect (SZ). I will then present new all sky maps of the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect (SZ) (also called y-type distortion) and CMB chemical potential fluctuations calculated from the full mission Planck CMB satellite data . I will present new limits (lower and upper) on the average SZ distortion by combining the Planck and the SPT (South Pole Telescope) data. I will also present constraints on the chemical potential fluctuation amplitude, its power spectrum and cross-power spectrum (with the primary CMB) and discuss implications for the primordial non-Gaussianity. Our new limits on spectral distortions improve over existing COBE-FIRAS constraints by approximately an order of magnitude. I will finish with some remarks on the future of the CMB spectrum cosmology.
