The first half of this talk will focus on defining entanglement entropy in lattice gauge theories. The second half will present recent results concerning generic, universal logarithmic terms that exist in weak-coupling limits of all gauge theories. We will particularly focus on 2+1-dimensional theories where such a logarithmic term dominates the universal part of entanglement entropy and represents a generalization of topological entanglement entropy to theories with continuous gauge group.
