Description |
A study of the superconducting properties and thermal conductivity in elemental niobium will be presented to address the issue of qualifications of the niobium materials for fabrications of a superconducting radio frequency cavity (SCRF) used in high energy particle accelerators. Focus will be on the particular superconducting properties of niobium, which will define the limit of the performance of a SCRF cavity, and how to optimize these properties for the best performance in a reproducible manner. In addition some relatively unknown but interesting superconducting properties of elemental bulk niobium will be highlighted.
