Description
Institutions in their path to productivity and excellence have to engage in effective knowledge dynamics and enabling teamwork. The last few decades has seen the development of intersected technologies and the time-coalescence between what may be termed as the generative, application and trading phases in the knowledge chain thereby demanding reengineered thinking and newer landscaping of innovation processes.

Institutions of today and tomorrow have to develop among other professional expertise, models for generating and expanding their knowledge in tandem with competitive knowledge diffusion and transfer. Effective management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) now is becoming a key driver in innovation processes to gain strategic ownership of knowledge domains with speedy knowledge sharing, value creation and realization.

The challenge is to design and operate institutional innovation processes that would preserve intellectual excellence and at the same time amicably fit into a disciplined Intellectual Property System. This presentation reviews approaches adopted by academic and commercial enterprises in institutional management of IPR including the impact on global research dynamics. .
