The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics has been one of the most precisely tested theories in physics. However, the SM has various non- generic features, which are tightly related to the fact that it has a number of accidental symmetries, approximately symmetries and large hierarchy among the dimensionless parameters. In this talk, I will discuss these symmetries and hierarchies of the SM and point out whether and how they might tell us about the nature of short distance physics. |
