IceCube Gen-2 is a proposed extension to the existing IceCube neutrino observatory, instrumenting ~10 times the volume of the present detector and comprising pixelated multi-PMT optical modules in place of the existing optical modules, which employ a single PMT each. In the first part of the talk, we discuss simulations with these pixelated detectors and the relative improvement in detector performance due to their capabilities, with a view towards writing reconstruction algorithms that exploit these new capabilities. In addition, we will also discuss methods to improve the speed of Bayesian estimation with archival IceCube data.
