Lithium is one of the primordial elements produced during the big bang nucleosynthesis (BBN) and the predicted value is A(Li) = 2. 72 dex based on WMAP results. This is about a factor of 20 less than the present value of A(Li) = 3.2 dex observed in ISM and young stellar objects. One of the suggestions for Li sources is evolved stars, though stars are generally considered as Li sinks. In this talk I will concentrate on anomalously high Li in red giant branch stars and its origin. |
