Precise measurements of cosmological observables has not only established the standard model of cosmology but also severely restricts possible extensions to it. In this talk, I will briefly overview high redshift observables such as CMB spectral distortions, light element abundance and CMB anisotropy. I will use these probes to constrain electromagnetic and neutrino energy injection scenarios in the pre- and post-recombination era. Specifically, i will concentrate on dark matter decay and primordial black hole evaporation as energy injection processes and the implications of our calculations for these cases.
