Description
Various extensions of the standard model (SM) invoke the presence of more than one Higgs doublet in the Lagrangian. In particular, the two-Higgs doublet model assumes the presence of an additional SU(2)L complex doublet. Due to the spontaneous symmetry breaking, three of the total eight degrees of freedom are consumed to produce the three massive gauge bosons (W± and Z). The remaining five degrees of freedom emerge as scalar Higgs bosons with two neutral CP-even scalars (H, h), one neutral CP-odd pseudoscalar (A), and two charged scalars (H±). We are looking for H± in the top-quark pair production process, where one top quark decays to a charged Higgs boson and a bottom quark, and the other to a W boson and a bottom quark. The charged Higgs boson further decays into a charm and a strange quark, while the W decays to a charged lepton and a neutrino. The search for the charged Higgs boson has been carried out for an H± mass range of 80 to 160 GeV. I will report the results of this study based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137.6 fb−1.

We have developed the muon tomography method which has been successfully used to identify a number of issues with the geometry of the high granularity calorimeter (HGCAL). In the second part of the seminar, I will discuss the application of muon tomography to validate the HGCAL geometry in the recent past.
