Description
"Necessity is the mother of the invention", holds true as need is the real creator which leads to technological advancement in today's era. However, identifying the appropriate needs and inventing accordingly to address these needs has been a great barrier always. We, at DMIHER, strive to provide a solution for the same by amalgamating medical science with the technocrat from the inception of the project and orchestrating its translation to end users. The vision of our Bio-Innovation center is to facilitate the innovators, researchers, and students to translate their ideas into innovation and help them to transfer their innovation from bench to bedside in accordance with all the regulatory procedures. This ecosystem at our facility has been instrumental in establishing strong collaboration with eminent institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IISc Bengaluru, VNIT Nagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIPH Gandhinagar, AIIMS Jodhpur, Texas A&M, USA and so on. We understand the importance of an interdisciplinary team and represent a heterogeneous group of innovators from diverse arenas who brings unique lens and specialization.

The multidisciplinary nature of the team and awareness of the product innovation cycle is helping us in generating funds for executing innovative projects from renounced funding organizations such as lNewGen IEDC from DST, IMPRINT 2.0 from SERB, ICMR, DRDO, Core research Grand from SERB, DDP from DST, and so on. The complete financial overlay of these funded projects is about Rs. 90 million which was received over the last 5 years. During this journey of great learning, inventing, experiencing new challenges, and impacting lives, we have successfully demonstrated the transformation of treatment deliverance to patients and society as a whole through technological interventions, established true collaborations for future endeavors, and also successfully impacted the life of 40+ patients to improvise their living through various technological interventions.

This talk will give more insights into the innovation in the field of bone tissue engineering, osteochondral scaffold development, prosthesis design by using 3D scanning and 3D printing, indigenous cranial flap fabrication, smart neonatal incubator, porous metallic implant and its application, ET tube blockage identification, and many other products. The presentation will also give an insight into the facility, industrial collaboration, and capacity-building workshop organized through India's first Center of Excellence for Indian Biomedical Skill Council, and regulatory assistance provided by our center during the journey of product innovation.
