Description
The study of the nuclear structure at higher excitation energy and angular momentum is one of the central topics for present day gamma ray spectroscopy measurements. Various structural features have been observed due to interplay between single particle and collective degrees of freedom. Such studies provide an opportunity to investigate a variety of structural phenomena like magnetic/anti-magnetic rotation, band termination, shape coexistence and shape evolution across the shell closure. Recently, these exotic phenomena have been extensively studied in lighter In, Cd and Sn isotopes by measuring the lifetime of high spin states using Indian National Gamma Array (INGA). In this talk, lifetime measurements and studies of high spin states of unstable nuclei far from stability using high efficiency detector array will be discussed.
