Description
Abstract:
The LHC machine at CERN has been colliding proton-on-proton at high energy as well as high intensity for about 3 years now. The complete data set collected until recentlyhas been analyzed to search for the Higgs boson and results have been declared just few days back. Both ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC observe a resonance at a mass around 125 GeV. More data are needed to conclude whether it is indeed the Higgs boson as envisaged in Standard Model of particle physics or something more exotic. The details of the search strategy and the results obtained will be discussed in this colloquium.
