Description
Most phenotypes in nature are genetically complex and modulated by multiple genes; such phenotypes are called complex or quantitative traits. Environment plays a significant role in modulating the effects of genes that regulate such traits. In this talk, I will present our recent results using yeast model in decoding the complexity of genetic and environmental effects of causative loci. First, I will discuss how a single nucleotide polymorphism can cause variation in a phenotype by affecting temporal expression patterns of interacting genes. I will then describe how genetic interactions regulating yeast growth vary in different environments to maximize fitness.
