Description
The management of inflammatory arthritis has undergone several changes since the closing years of the nineteenth century. That was about the time when the first major textbook of medicine made an appearance and will be the start of this journey. The progress of the disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and its treatment will be examined in the context of a man’s life and work. Corticosteroids, the controversy, complications and lessons learnt to define their place in therapy will be a part of the discussion. Some of the common problems experienced by arthritis patients and what they and medicine can do about them will be presented along with a brief reference to helpful and harmful habits.
