Description
We demonstrate that the classical dynamics of black holes simplifies when the number of dimensions, D, in which the black hole lives is taken to be large. In this limit we derive a duality between black hole dynamics and the motion of an auxilliary membrane that propagates in unperturbed flat space. We determine the effective membrane or soap bubble equations at leading order in 1/D.
