Description
I will review how modern conformal bootstrap methods lead to calculations of critical exponents relevant for the 3d Ising model which describes water at the critical point. This approach bypasses the need to calculate Feynman diagrams. Specifically, the approach is manifestly finite and does not need to appeal to regularization and renormalization that is conventionally used. This approach moreover can be applied quite generally to any conformal field theory (CFT) in any dimension, thereby opening the possibility of classifying CFTs in dimensions larger than 2.
