The talk will cover evidences for Dark Matter in the Universe and the motivation for direct detection experiments. The most important detection methods will be described and results from the most sensitive experiments will be presented together with an overall theoretical interpretation. 


About the speaker:

Prof Dr. Manfred Lindner is the director of the particle and astroparticle physics division of the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics at Heidelberg, Germany. His research spectrum ranges from formal theoretical questions to experimental projects.  He is involved in various international experimental projects in the field of neutrino physics (GERDA & Double Chooz) and dark matter search (XENON). Prof Lindner was awarded an honorary doctorate of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm for his important contributions to neutrino physics in 2016.
