Description |
“Astronomy is one of the most ancient sciences. Its growth is incremental and cumulative. It closely parallels the intellectual growth of the civilisation. In the present talk, we will discuss the origin and growth of astronomy in the subcontinent from its roots to its current state as sponsored formal field of research. We then discuss the lack of knowledge of the Harappan Civilisation that leaves a large gap in the mapping of the intellectual growth of the Indian Civilisation. We discuss our attempts to understand the Harappan Civilisation. This makes an exciting and long story of its own right. Hence, our work on Harappan Script will be discussed in a separate colloquium at a later date.” |
