Believe it or not - researchers and entrepreneurs are not really different! Both take an inordinate amount of risk and put in a disproportionate amount of effort, against all odds, to achieve hyper innovative outcome, growth and development. About 35 years ago, India’s IT entrepreneurs hustled against all odds to form NASSCOM – an unlikely alliance of competitors that powered the IT revolution in India. India went from being one of the unlikeliest tech destinations to an IT superpower today with Indian software services industry alone at a whopping $180 billion.

About the Speaker:
Mr. Harish Mehta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from College of Engineering, Pune and a Masters in Computer Science from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, NY. He was the driving force behind galvanising the IT industry in India by co-founding NASSCOM, the IT industry association of India. He was the first elected Chairperson of NASSCOM.

As Creator of Onward Group, Mr. Mehta has led, grown and mentored two generations of this technology company. He was one of the chief architects of the Hinditron–Digital (DEC) JV in India. He Introduced the Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), a Silicon Valley based Organisation, to Mumbai. Mr. Mehta was director at The College of Engineering, Pune. (2010-2015). He was awarded ‘CEO of the Year’ in 1994 by NMIMS, Tata HRD Network and World HRD Congress. He was also honoured with a Life Time Achievement Award by IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2018. He was honoured by the PM Mr. Narendra Modi, for 25 years of exemplary contribution to Indian IT.
