Description
The recent emergence of low dimensional quantum materials provides an excellent platform to investigate various elementary excitations for next-generation devices. In some materials, the Coulombic attraction between 2D electrons and holes bind to form hydrogen-like quasiparticles known as excitons. In this talk, I will discuss our group’s effort towards understanding and controlling the excitonic energy transport dynamics in 2D material system of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayer and its heterostructures. In particular, I will discuss manipulation of exciton transport that leverages the complex band system and the mechanical flexibility of TMDs. The results provide valuable insight into the diffusive and drift transport mechanisms that can aid in the development of optoexcitonic devices for next-generation classical and quantum systems.
