Description |
The discovery of the Higgs boson over a decade ago was a milestone for particle physics. It was the final piece that completed the experimental confirmation of the Standard Model of particle physics. This discovery coupled with the non-discovery of any other new particles at the Large Hadron collider has, however, raised some deep and puzzling questions about the laws of nature at smallest length scales. In this talk, I review the Higgs mechanism, discuss how we can verify it at higher and higher levels of precision and give my perspective on the new puzzles it has given rise to. |
