Theoretical Physics Colloquium

Forty Years of Collider Physics (with some focus on the Indian context)

by Prof. Sreerup Raychaudhuri (TIFR, Mumbai)

Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at AG69 and on zoom
Description
The idea of scattering experiments to determine subatomic structures dates back to Rutherford's 1911 experiment - and was developed throughout the twentieth century - but only in the past four decades has it become the frontline of elementary particle physics. The story of these momentous developments will be told in general terms, with some focus on the contributions made by the Indian HEP community, including the speaker and his collaborators. The talk will end with some comments on future possibilities in this area.
