Description
The eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) is believed to be true for generic quantum many-body systems and explains how local equilibration is achieved even with purely unitary dynamics. It is equally interesting to understand how ETH might be violated in interacting systems. In this talk, I will discuss some examples of spin models with constrained Hilbert spaces that can give rise to peculiar features such as superdiffusive energy transport, emergent fractons (excitations which are immobile in isolation) as well as quantum many-body scars (athermal eigenstates embedded in an otherwise ETH-satisfying spectrum).
