Description
Modern day Fluorescent microscopy allows us to visualise deep inside
living cells and follow cellular processes in real time such that they
can be modeled quantitatively like any physical phenomena. I will
discuss few examples from cell biology, concerning the mechanics of
cell division, where physical modeling have been successful. The
modeling involves concepts from physics of membranes, polymers and
fluids, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of biophysics.
