It is not commonly known that scores of Indians have done seminal contribution to the development of Semiconductors, Microelectronics, Lasers, Fibre Optics, Computing, Telecommunications and the Internet, which together form today's digital technology. The talk will present the findings of author's research by highlighting concrete contributions of several individuals, besides the historical basis laid by ancient Indian contribution in mathematics and logic.

About Shri. Shivanand Kanavi:
After a teaching and academic career in Theoretical Physics at Northeastern University, Boston, IIT Bombay and Bombay University, Dr. Kanavi became an Economic Consultant (1984-91) and later turned to Business Journalism (1992- 2004). He was the Executive Editor of Business India. He served as Vice President-Special Projects at the Tata Consultancy Services during 2004-10. Dr. Kanavi has authored a highly acclaimed book "Sand to Silicon: The amazing story of digital technology". He was awarded the Madhu Valluri Award for Journalism for the year 2004.
