Description
ABSTRACT:

We shall discuss results of our recent studies on polypyrrole and gold-polypyrrole composite nanowires that exhibit fascinating electronic transport properties expected in a one-dimensional charge-density-wave system. In a disordered lattice of polymer such ordered state can arise only due to electron-electron interaction. We shall discuss bias and/or illumination induced resistance-switching transition in these nanowires that reduces the resistance of the wires by several orders of magnitude to reach metallic state. By incorporating gold in these polypyrrole nanowires this novel resistance switching transition could be extended beyond liquid nitrogen temperature to make this phenomenon technologically relevant.
