ASET Colloquium

Ultra-low Temperature Engineering and Its Applications for Research

by Dr. Zuyu Zhao (Vice President – Principal Scientist, Janis Research Company, USA)

Friday, December 12, 2014 from to (Asia/Kolkata)
at AG-66
Description
We will discuss the Ultra-low Temperature (ULT) technologies and its Applications for Research. ULT technologies have been developed shoulder by shoulder with helium physics research (where the ULT Physic research originally started), and they have found themselves with much broader applications in the current Physics research.

This talk will start with an example of application of ULT technology in classical He-3 physics research, followed by examples of its applications in contemporary frontier Physics research, such as ULT-STM systems in high magnetic fields, Angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES) below 1K, Cosmology Physics, and etc.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Zuyu Zhao received his Ph.D. in Physics from Northwestern University, USA. He was a Faculty at Fudan University and a research associate in Department of Physics, Harvard University. He joined Janis Research Company in 1993 where he is currently the Principal Scientist and its Vice President. His area of expertise is development of ultra-low temperature systems for researches in different fields of Physics and material science. He was a Member of of the Advisory Committee for "Physics Today" during 2006-2012.
