Description
Effective field theories play an important role in all branches of physics. In this talk, we will briefly outline the basics of an effective theory used to treat heavy quark degrees of freedom in Quantum Chromodynamics, which goes by the name of Heavy Quark Effective Theory. This will be done in a context relevant for lattice field theories. Using the formalism of this effective theory, the ab-initio non-perturbative extraction of the form-factors will be discussed using lattice techniques. This has important consequences on our understanding of the Standard Model.
