Description
The H-dibaryon was conjectured as a deeply bound state in the MIT bag model nearly four decades ago. Extensive experimental searches however have ruled out the existence of a deeply bound state and its fate remains undecided. A prediction for a bound state and/or the location of pole in the complex plane for the H-dibaryon state from non-perturbative methods is highly desirable and provides an ideal target for lattice QCD. In this talk, I will discuss, the lattice methodologies for hadron spectroscopy and the relevant issues for multibaryon calculations, in particular the signal/noise problem. I will also discuss the methods involved in obtaining scattering information from lattice calculations. I will conclude with an overview of the current status and the outlook in the near future for a complete prediction.
