Through a discussion on the building experiments for his projects, the speaker will share the evolution process of his theoretical perspective. He will contextualize his work in the fields of contemporary practice and education. He will discuss strategies employed towards making sustainable buildings, the output achieved and their potential influence on various stakeholders.

About the Speaker:
Malaksingh was graduated in 2001 from the Rachana Sansad’s Academy of Architecture, Mumbai. His training with architect Laurie Baker in Kerala inspired his keen interest and engagement with local traditional building materials, construction techniques and crafts. He has completed his post-graduate diploma in Natural Resource Management from the Ecological Society of India, Pune. He has built energy-efficient and cost-effective buildings extensively in various parts of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, through local sourcing of materials and human resources. He has taught at various schools of architecture in Mumbai and mentored many young practitioners of sustainable building. His practice and teaching are focussed around the environment and culture-sensitive research.
