Description |
The advent of superconductivity in Iron pnictide (FeAs) system in 2008, has given a new impetus to the scientific activities in the field. The later discovery of superconductivity in the similar but simpler Fe chalcogene systems (FeSe(Te/S)), made these materials a model system to understand the mechanism of superconductivity in FeAs compounds. The FeSe compound shows a transition temperature of 8K, which increases to 15K on doping of 50% Te at Se sites. Also the application of pressure increases the transition temperature to 35K. In this talk, I will discuss the superconducting and magnetic properties of the FeTe1-xSex system in their single crystalline as well as polycrystalline forms to bring out the role and interplay of magnetism with superconductivity. |
