Description
Tiny semiconductor nanocrystals can emit brightly. These can tune the color and also tune their brightness. These materials are in forefront of current research as these have potential applications in lighting and photovoltaics. As an efficient optical material, metal chalcogenides were extensively studied for decades and these were even used in backlight LED TVs. Recently, perovskite nanocrystals also emerged which can produce three prominent colors (RGB) with all near unity photoluminescence quantum yields. This talk would present the chemistry of tuning colors, dimensions and shapes of these nanocrystals in a small reaction flask. Moreover, excitements while looking in flask and also seeing under microscope would be correlated. Different directions of research related to these materials which were still remained unknown, would also be presented.
