The quenching of hard QCD jets, in the dense medium created in a heavy-ion collision, has been used for many years now to study the structure of the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), created in these collisions. Over time, simplified treatments have given way to the development of elaborate multi-stage approaches, realized via sophisticated event generators. The extracted jet transport coefficients which encode the interaction between jets and the QGP have proliferated, as has their dependence on properties of both the medium and the jet parton. In this talk, we will discuss how event generator frameworks such as JETSCAPE are used to extract and compare jet transport coefficients with theoretical calculations in perturbative QCD and on the lattice.
